On 18.7.17, between 08.00 – 09.00, five volunteers performed a Community SpeedWatch (CSW) near the junction of Morley Lane with the B6179 Alfreton Road. Of the 803 vehicles which passed the location during the watch period 11% were speeding with 2% travelling at or over 35mph. In no way do these figures show a true picture as it was really obvious that drivers were flashing oncoming traffic and several vehicles were seen to sharply apply their brakes!
The Community Speed Watch Programme is looking to recruit additional volunteers to monitor the speed of vehicles which pass through the village. Please get in touch if you are able to help by volunteering or if you want to set up a Community Speedwatch in your neighbourhood. The programme runs under the authority of Derbyshire Police, however days and times can be varied to suit your availability.
Although the locations may be changed, the CSW dates for 2017-18 posted on the PC Web Page will be carried out weather and volunteer number permitting.
